Youth Empowered Speakers (YES) Program
The YES program provides Indigenous language immersion funding (Mentor-Apprentice method) and paid work internships to pursue your education in a field related to language revitalization. The goal of the program is for Youth (18-35 years old) to learn their language while preparing for a career in language revitalization in one of three streams: Early Childhood Immersion Educator Stream for ECE students; or, Language Immersion Teacher Stream for BEd. Students; or, Community Language Revitalizationist Stream for students in a degree/program (which should be linked to language revitalization).
The YES program provides a paid work internship opportunity along with Mentor-Apprentice language learning, which is a one-on-one method to become fluent. Applicants can choose to apply to do either 100 hours, 200 hours, or 300 hours of Mentor-Apprentice language learning per year in this 10-month program.
